On a recent trip as a tour host, one of our visits was to a cemetery. Cemeteries are very interesting places. Sad, of course, in many ways, but also very interesting. Usually I read the tombstones and remark at the ages of those who died, read the lovely messages that loved ones have had inscribed on the stones, and admire the beautiful flowers left on the graves to signify that the deceased haven’t been forgotten.
The cemetery we visited on this occasion was in Bourke, New South Wales. As we wandered around, I noticed the stone statues on some of the graves. There were angels and cherubs in all shapes and sizes, and the more I looked the more I saw. They are an artwork in their own right and I thought I’d share some of them in a blog. So here they are. Aren’t they just beautiful?
